Srija: Waiting response from my family

Srija wanted her papa to call her, but mum’s the word from superstar dad Chiranjeevi. A day after Srija demanded that her father speak with her assuring safety to her and her husband, the megastar continued to maintain a stoic silence. Some sources claimed that Chiranjeevi and his wife left their Jubilee Hills residence and are now staying elsewhere in the city. “They are fed up with the stream of visitors dropping in with advice and consolation,” a source said. But other sources claimed that the star was very much at home, but wanted to send out a strong “leave me alone” message. The preoccupation with the Srija saga, however, has thrown out of gear the work schedules of Chiranjeevi, his newly launched son Ram Charan and brother Pawan Kalyan. Most affected is Pawan Kalyan, who in filmi style deposited his weapon in the Jubilee Hills police station on Monday. The actor should have been busy shooting for ‘Jalsaa.’ But right now he is out of action. The movie went on the floors sometime back and also completed a couple of shooting schedules. The shooting was supposed to have resumed but the Srija incident has thrown it out of gear. Also directly affected by Srija’s elopement and marriage is her brother Charan whose debut movie ‘Chirutha’ was released recently. Though the movie opened to packed houses, the crowds have now dwindled in the theatres.Charan is set to do his next film with an ace director but the family drama is expected to result in the venture getting delayed. Chiranjeevi, not involved in any project after his recent Shankardada Zindabad was said to be in touch with some Tamil directors to finalise a storyline. This is now expected be delayed for a long time. The crisis seems to have also affected Allu Arjun, son of Allu Aravind, the brother-in-law of Chiranjeevi. His movie has to be completed soon but work has come to a halt.

Sanjay Dutt send to Yerwada Jail

Pune, Oct 23 (IANS) Actor Sanjay Dutt underwent a thorough medical check-up Tuesday as he began his second stint at the historic Yerawada Jail here for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The actor had surrendered before the special Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court in Mumbai Monday afternoon. He was taken out of his temporary cell in the Arthur Road jail at around 8.30 p.m.After that, the police convoy along with their celebrity prisoner raced their way at almost 130 kmph on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, dodging media vans to reach Yerawada around midnight in a record two-and-a-half hours. And with Dutt's arrival, the hustle and bustle has returned to the prison premises.According to police officials, Dutt is soon expected to start carpentry work in jail. During his last stay, authorities said the actor had shown interest in the skill.Dutt's lawyers Farhana Shah and Satish Maneshinde told IANS from Mumbai that they would be filing his bail petition in the Supreme Court next week.Majid Memon, a leading Mumbai lawyer, said that in all likelihood Dutt would be released on bail next week. "The ground of the appeal could be that he was not convicted under TADA, was on bail for more than 10 years, and thirdly had shown very good conduct while on bail."Dutt is back in jail after a two-month reprieve as the special anti-terrorism court here gave him a copy of the judgement convicting him in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts in which 257 people were killed.

Tarun and Ileana are Telugu 'Bunty aur Babli'

K Vijaya Bhaskar is back to making mass entertainers. After tackling a tame subject in Classmates, he seems to be back on the track with his latest film.
Tarun was seen flashing his dimpled smile at the press meet yesterday, as he will be seen on screen after a long time.
Another reason definitely was the opportunity to act with Ileana, who is among the most sought-after heroines in the industry today and will soon be co-starring with none other than Shah Rukh Khan.
Though Vijaya Bhaskar simply said that this yet-to-be titled film was about two thieves, the industry is rife with rumours that it is a take-off from Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee starrer Bunty aur Babli.
It was also disclosed that hero Jagapati Babu would be playing a special role in the film. In all probability, it has to be Amitabh Bachchan's character.

Tarun's Navavasantam will be super hit

Supergood Films banner is presently making Nava Vasantam with Tarun in the lead. Original version of the film in Tamil, PUnnaga Desai - which also had Tarun in the lead, tasted good success at the box office. The same director - Shahjahan - is making debut into Telugu with this remake. The unit was recently in Russia to film 2 songs. Ganesh master choreographed these 2 songs. The entire production is now wrapped up. 'This is his best performance so far', said RB Chowdary talking about Tarun. The film is about 4 village guys who come to city. 'Youth can achieve anything with their will power. That is the underlying message in our film. This film will surely be a super hit and will be another feather in our cap', said RB Chowdary. Tarun, Akash, Rohit, Sunil, Priyamani, Ankita, Kota are playing key roles in the film. Audio of the film will release sometime this week and movie will release in November.

Chiru envy about Charan's following

Charan was receiving great words of adulation from a lady who said she was big time fan of Charan. Chiranjeevi who was right there on the scene commented, 'Excuse me, I am still here.. Dont you feel that I would be envy about it'. This is all in a lighter note during a TV show on which Chiranjeevi and Charan appeared together. A guest appeared on the show and said she is a great fan of Chiruta. Talking about the dances, Sowmya (the guest) said that she would give 500 marks out of 10 for his dances. A modest Charan said that he would only rate himself 50%. Reason? He thinks any one could dance great but expressions on face during the dance is a different school and Chiru is the head master of that school. He thinks that it is that area that he should improve.

ATIDHI

Atidhi is one of the most awaited films of this year. Unfortunately, the film does not live up to the expectations. The film has rich look, superb performance by Mahesh Babu, a good plot and few good sequences in the film. But that is pretty much it. On the other side, script and screenplay fails in the first half, and all the songs are just average. Director Surender Reddy seems to have taken care on extra details and additional effects rather than the main plot and narration. This could have been a good action thriller but due to predictable and not-so-interesting first half, and a decent second half turns this film into an average flick.
Mahesh looked great. Surender Reddy dedicated all his resources in projecting Mahesh - with the character and also with the effects - and he is completely successful. Also, there are a few scenes that brings out new dimension of Mahesh. Especially the scene where he is drunk with Brahmanandam and Sunil. Amrita Rao looked just okay in majority of the film and good in the rest. In songs, she looked good. Murali Sharma plays a very good and key role. Rajeev Kanakala, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and others did their roles well. The film starts off very well with the orphan being adopted by a couple. But soon the film fails generating any interest until almost the end of the first half. A twist revealed as interval bang brings some relief and will make one anticipate at least some thing in the second half. Another bad is that even the songs are not that great in the film. And there is no entertainment either. Second half starts off on a good note. Sunil, Brahmanandam episode is very good and provides good relief. The narration dramatically changes with the style and turns into a good action thriller. Lead character unfolding the mystery in search of his enemy is very well done. But again, songs disappoint in the second half too. That makes the love track a burden on the audience as that track will pave way for a song every time. Surender Reddy's shot takings are seen in a good number of sequences. Detailed attention has been paid to the extra effects in a sequence than the smooth flow of the sequences or a convincing script in the first half. It is the second half that saves the film with some content. In the second half, direcotr's mark is clearly seen. Especially in the action sequences. Even though second half has too many action sequences, the film shapes up into a action flick and Surender Reddy is successful to good extent in this regard. For the kind of twist in the plot he has, better script work could have taken the film to great heights. There is nothing new in the story but the plot is good enough. But it is the script work and screenplay that fails it a bit. Except for one episode, there isnt much comedy or entertainment in the film. Some of the episodes in the film seem to be redundant style of Pokiri and Athadu. There is also lot of violence in the film. Surprisingly, all the songs in the film are either average or just okay. Mani Sharma's beats in couple of numbers are foot tapping but that is pretty much it. His background score is excellent at times. Especially the climax scene where Mahesh runs against a bunch of goons gets an exciting background. Dialogs by Abburi Ravi are just content. Production values of the film is very good as every frame looks rich - be it with sets or outdoors. Visual effects are also very good. Technically, it is the visual effects, cinematographer (Sameer Reddy) and editor (Gautam Raju) who gave their best to the director. Grading, color effects and cutting are done good. First half of the film tries to be more or less another Pokiri. Second half turns into action flick. If it is a total action flick, it would run without any entertaining elements. Here, the film tries to be action thriller with love backdrop but no entertainment. Overall, the film is an average flick with some good action in the second half and good performance by Mahesh Babu.

happy days (a good movie)

Happy Days is a movie that has happiness and goodness writ all over it. Every scene drips entertainment and values. Watching the movie makes you feel good and noble about you. I sincerely wished that the movie Happy Days never ended and had to drag myself out of the theatre as the curtains closed on the silver screen. If that doesn't help in qualifying the movie as a good one then consider these factors: the movie is clean with very little violence. It adds a whip of freshness to the art of filmmaking. As like all of Sekhar Kamula's movies, Happy Days is very much a neat piece of artwork that reflects life, campus life to be precise. At the same time the movie has not divorced social responsibility out. Sekhar Kamula is a sensitive filmmaker that has taken up the goal of making clean and sensible entertainers. After Anand and Godavari he scores again with Happy Days. Make one movie a year: Is it the mantra of Sekhar for good filmmaking? May be yes; because, he made Anand in 2005, Godavari in 2006, and now Happy Days. Sekhar has the amazing ability of making arty kind of movies with tremendous box office potential. All his movies have picturesque scenes and enthralling music. This time he takes Mickey J Meyer instead of Radhakrishna to score soft tunes and avoid getting repetitive.Conforming to his brand of movies, Happy Days truly reflects campus life. The eight fresher of Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology (Sekhar's alma mater) are typical students of any engineering college. Happy Days, that's part autobiographical and part imagination, revolves around these eight fresher as they go through regular campus life experiences that include: studies, ragging, love, friendship, betrayal in love and friendship, and career concerns. With Happy Days Sekhar Kamula writes Telugu film history quietly and yet authoritatively. Here is a director that dares to take a totally different approach to movie making and story telling. It's a wonder what Sekhar has done with seven raw talents that had hardly faced the camera before. He extracts the best from these greenhorns and makes the characters as real as it's possible. The entire Telugu film industry that made totally unrealistic and bizarre student themed movies replete with mindless violence should sit and watch Happy Days. There are a lot of things to be learnt from the movie. The viewers must watch Happy Days to take a nostalgic trip down the memory lane and recollect the sweet as well as bittersweet memories. For those that are still in college, Happy Days can provide a newer perspective of their campus lives. And what better excuse can one get than watching Happy Days to cozy up with friends in a relaxed atmosphere and experience real happy times.

chandamama review

rating-3/5Krishnavamsi strum the right chords this time. Chandamama turned out to be a cool, clean, breezy entertainer. The film falls into Krishnavamsi styled family drama. Positive things in the film are good narration, right mix of all elements, KV's style, village backdrop, soothing music by Radhakrishna, superb performances by lead cast, strong technical support and beautiful hampi locations. Story is about one Ranga Rao (Nagendra Babu) and his daughter Mahalaxmi (Kajal). Ranga Rao is much respected person in his native place. Mahalaxmi finishes her education in City and returns to village. She is then engaged to Dorababu (Siva Balaji) from the same village. However, there is a problem for Mahalaxmi to marry Dorababu. That is Kishore (Navadeep). What is the problem and how it solved forms the plot in Chandamama. Navadeep, Siva Balaji did their roles very well. As required by the character, Navadeep induced full josh in his role. He is apt in the flamboyant and care-a-damn attitude. Siva Balaji is apt in his own role. He under played his character very nicely and proves the kind of potential he has. Kajal looked lovely and she performed content. Sindhu Menon character is naughty and at times, loud. She did her role to content. Ahuti Prasad is the one who actually steals the show. With his village dialect, he simply rocked and the audience will surely go for all laughs. Radha Kumari as Ahuti Prasad's mother is apt in that role prompting Ahuti Prasad to always say 'Aada Pethanam.. bodi pethanam'. Their sequences are good. Nagendra Babu is apt in the role of Ranga Rao who demands respect from the entire village yet he becomes like a kid with his daughter. Krishnavamsi kept his word in bringing a breezy entertainer. His style is seen through out the film. He brings on to screen the richness in Indian traditions, values and culture. Rural life is shown in the glory once it enjoyed. Human emotions are nicely tapped. Especially he hits the right chords with depicting father and daughter. The scene where Nagendra Babu looks at her like she is 10 years old when she is actually 20 is nicely conceived. Unlike his previous films there isnt much prelude to how the lead pairs fall in love. First half of the film is extraordinary. With three beautiful songs (Chengu Chengu, naalo voohalaku, bugge bangarama), time just flies off. Actual story begins in the second half. There is more than a twist in the second half that leads towards the lovers uniting. But the second half feels a bit lenghty. It is not just a feeling but even by watch second half is longer compared to the first half. Songs in second half are okay. A few minutes in the second half could have been trimmed. For example, the prelude to Regumullole song with family anthakashari event and Nagendra Babu's poetry on Chandamama does not add any value to the script but are just few joyous moments in the family entertainment. But overall, this is not felt as every thing falls in right place. Climax comes at the right time and does not take much time before the film concludes. Hampi and house set erected at Jayabheri estates are two locations where majority of the film is shot. Village outdoors is moslty at Hampi. House interiors and exterior surroundings are the sets at Jayabheri estates. Prasad Moorella did a wonderful job with his lenses in projecting the locales as the right village atmosphere. Dialogs by Laxmibhupal are good. Especially, when they fell in the accent of Ahuti Prasad, they sounded more fun. Music by Radhakrishna is very good. The songs are soothing and at times foot tapping. Jhats and Alaps by Radhakrishna are nicely utilized by the director at right places. His jhat in Nalo Asalaku song, imitating Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, is excellent. All the songs are composed nicely. Asha Bhosle's Nalo Asalaku stands out. Overall, this is a clean entertainer - no double entenders, no vulgarity, no skinshow. It is all pure entertainment. A love story presented with a blend of traditions, human emotions and interesting screenplay is Chandamama. Go for it.
