Ram Charan's flick in brisk progress

Shooting of Ram Charan Teja’s second film, directed by S.S. Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind in association with B.V.S.N. Prasad under Gita Arts banner is progressing well in and around Hyderabad. It is learnt that some action and chase scenes are being shot now.

The director has decided to choreograph a remix song, 'Bangaru Kodipetta…' of Chiranjeevi's blockbuster Gharana Mogudu in this movie. The original song was choreographed at Visakhapatnam Port; the same is going to be the venue for the latest song as well, involving Ram Charan and Mumaith Khan. The film unit would leave for Visakhapatnam very soon.

Story is by Vijayendra Prasad, camera is by Senthil Kumar, music is by M.M. Keeravani.

Bhumika dubs her voice, Ilayaraja sings song

Samudra is directing and producing Mallepuvvu with Bhumika in the lead for Samudra Silver Screen banner. Murali Krishna is making debut as hero in this film. Production of the film is almost done except for one song. Ramesh Varma prepared the story for the film and an NRI Mohan Vadlapatla is also producing the film.

We wanted to make this film with a new hero and hence we started the search. Finally, we zeroed on Muralikrishna. When we approached Bhumika for the role, she asked for the Hindi rights of the film. Also, music director Ilayaraja wanted to do this in Tamil. Ilayaraja put his heart in this film. He is very impressed with the story. He even sang a song in this film. Also, another interesting fact is that Bhumika is dubbing her own voice for this film. Audio of this film will release on either 18th or 22nd of this month. Aditya audio company grabbed the audio rights of the film. Movie will release in August or September.

Dedicating it to Sobhan Babu
Samudra announced that his film Mallepuvvu will be dedicated to late Sobhan Babu. Old hit film Mallepuvvu had Sobhan Babu in the lead role. 'In fact, Sobhan Babu garu called me when he came to know of the title. He said that he was curious to know who and what was this film about. He said he would attend the premiere of Mallepuvvu. Unfortunately he is not with us to attend the show. Hence I am dedicating the film to Sobhan Babu', said Sobhan Babu.

Cast and crew of the old Mallepuvvu film will attend the audio release of this film.

Shriya´s ´Exposure´ hitting top!!!

The sizzling beauty Shriya who was seen as the girl next door in films like ´Santosham´, ´Chatrapathi´, ´Arjun´ and others has gone in for a complete transformation as soon as she has entered north. Kathanayakudu’s music has been declared a chart-buster within a day of its release. Though the music companies dread piracy in form of pirated CDs, ‘free’ internet downloads and other means of avoiding the legitimate route, Kathanayakudu has beaten the baddies in true Rajni style and has rocketed to the top of the charts.

The latest figures for the legit audio sales hovers around 2 lakh CDs for two days in the city alone. The music of Kathanayakudu/ Kuselan was launched on June 30, 2008 evening. But the sales of the audio CDs and cassettes began only on July 1.

G.V. Prakash has composed 5 heart-thumping songs for the movie which is gearing up for a grand release on July 25, 2008.

Chiranjeevi to contest from Tirupathi?

The rumour doing the rounds all over Andhra is that megastar Chiranjeevi is likely to contest from Tirupathi. Chiranjeevi hails from Mogalthur in West Godavari district. But the chances of him contesting from there are slim. He is expected to nominate his brother Nagababu from there.

The TDP is likely to field former actress and now Telugu Mahila chief Roja from Tirupathi. She contested the election last time but lost. Even Mohan Babu is keen to contest from Tirupathi. He is now moving closely with the Congress and as such, he could be fielded by the Congress party.

In such an eventuality, Tirupathi could well become the most keenly watched Assembly segment during the polls.

After the blockbuster Sivaji, when the whole industry was abuzz with talks about the film's impressive theme and the treatment, Superstar Rajinikanth accepted his friend Sreenivasan's invitation and attended a special screening of the Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol. Absolutely impressed with the theme, Rajni wanted to take up the Tamil remake and was willing to act in the role of the Mammootty in the original. Without further delay, he called Sreenivasan and from that moment, the project began to take shape. Titled Kuselan in Tamil and Kucheludu in Telugu, later renamed Kathanayakudu, Rajni chose the experienced and wise P. Vasu as the director of the remake. K. Balachander's Kavithalaya took over the production. Needless to say, Rajinikanth's presence in the project galvanized the whole team into swift activity.

Though a remake, the plot has been modified suitably to suit the tastes of the Tamil and Telugu audiences. It is also understood changes have been made to amplify and expand the role of the Superstar; as a result, Rajni appears in over 50% of the film, though he is not the hero.

The theme of the film is simple: Balan (Pasupathy) is a barber who lives a hand-to-mouth existence in his village with his wife Sreedevi (Meena) and three children. A secret love affair, elopement, subsequent marriage, fatherhood and poverty have pushed the barber to the brink and he is absolutely vanquished by the crushing weight of his failure to fulfil his responsibilities. And Balan is a man who just cannot dupe, lie, or commit fraud. So without knowing any means to make extra money, Balan struggles to cope with life and demands of the family. Each and every day poses a mighty challenge to him; there is no money to pay the children's school fees, absolutely no money for everyday expenses, food and clothing. As if all these are not sufficient to stir trouble, his business also goes through a dull period. Deprived of caring friends and relatives on whom he can rely for help and support, Balan struggles through life daily, getting on with the business of living, trying to make sense of life, trying to do his job, to keep his wife and children fed and clothed.

At this critical juncture, Balan comes to know that Superstar Ashokraj (Rajinikanth) is visiting the village in connection with the shoot of his latest film. As soon as he receives news about the shooting, an enthusiastic Balan reveals the precious piece of information that - Ashok is his childhood friend. Coming to know about the connection, Balan's wife and children yell with joy as if they have won the lottery overnight. Also, armed with the foresight and thoughtfulness of a dutiful mother, Sreedevi urges her husband to extract maximum advantage of the connection. Balan, a man of great self-esteem and individuality, is taken aback by the shrewd suggestion. Though he and Ashok had enjoyed a good friendship, he does not want to temper the purity of the first meeting after all these years by asking for a personal favour. Needless to say, Balan is also awed by Ashok's Superstar airs and is not sure whether he would even recognize the poor barber. So what happens next? Do Ashok and Balan meet? Does Ashok agree to help them out? Does he fulfil Sreedevi's expectations, showering fortune on them? Or is he the cool, reserved star who considers himself several notches above the poor barber's social status? Does he feel ashamed to acknowledge his friendship? Kuselan/Kathanayakudu has captured an emotional explosion at this point in the narrative. Wait and watch!

It is a Superstar film, one he has happily accepted! So obviously, the whole industry is curious to enjoy news and information regarding the production. Based on those snippets, it appears there are going to be interesting star-cameos (Sneha, Kamal Haasan and so on) and Vadivelu is going to appear<

Charmi does Pawan Kalyan, Rajani Kanth

The makers are going gaga about the performance of Charmi in the film. Especially they are in full praise for her imitating the voice of Rajani Kanth, Pawan Kalyan, Brahmanandam and several others from Tamil and Telugu industry. There is a good reason for why she does it and you have to see it in the film to know the reason, says the producer.

Pawan Kalyan Puli´ begins shoot!!!

The next project of Power Star Pawan Kalyan which has been titled as ´Puli´ got a hiccup of sorts last week when the director S J Suryah was injured in a freak accident during one of the shoots in Chennai. However, the shooting has now resumed and is going on smoothly in Hyderabad, it is heard that few action sequences are being canned on Pawan in the area of Dilsukhnagar. The music for the film is being composed by A R Rahman and teen beauty Hansika Motwani is the leading lady for Pawan.

Pawan´s dream project to begin

Power star Pawan Kalyan who is currently busy with the making of his film ´Puli´ has not stopped at that and now he has chalked up plans to start off with his dream project ´Satyagrahi´ which has been close to his heart since quite a while. The film was meant to be produced by A M Rathnam but owing to his financial mess, this has been taken over by Nukarapu Suryaprakash Rao. If all goes as per plan, then the film will hit the floors early next year.

Nag-Lawrence film to begin in Oct

Raghava Lawrence got promotion from dancer to choreographer with the blessings of top stars of the Telugu film industry. Nagarjuna, who noticed the spark in him, gave Lawrence an opportunity to prove himself as director and the film ‘Mass’ which came in their combination was a blockbuster.

Reposing the same faith, Nagarjuna again agreed to play hero in his direction but the second film ‘Don’ failed to reach the expectations though fared well at Box Office to certain extent. Now the combination of Nagarjuna and Lawrence is likely to repeat again for a film to be produced by C Kalyan. It is most likely to go to sets in October. And the producer is making efforts to release the film in Summer.

Chiranjeevi’s party to focus on “good governance”

HYDERABAD: “We are ready for the elections whenever they are held,” said K. Nagendra Babu, about the political party being launched by his film star-brother K. Chiranjeevi next month.

Mr. Nagababu, as he is known, did not agree with the suggestion that the timeframe between the party’s launch (likely in August) and the elections was too short to gear up the cadre. “Lakhs of film fans and supporters of my brother are already working behind the screen,” the actor said in response to a question about the categorical announcement of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy that the general elections would be held after March 2009.

He dismissed with disdain the opinions expressed in certain quarters that there was no political vacuum for the megastar to fill as in 1982 when N. T. Rama Rao launched the Telugu Desam Party and rode to power, all in nine months. “Only journalists, intellectuals, critics and some political leaders are of this view.

We will prove them wrong,” he said in an interview on the sets of the Telugu film “Sarkar” directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, even as several aspirants from Kurnool looking for a role in the new political set up waited for an audience.

Mr. Nagababu, who is a key member of Chiranjeevi’s core team handling ‘public response’, justified it by saying people badly wanted a change. “I have visited every district, except Nellore and Nizamabad. The attendance and reaction at my meetings, especially from youth and women, were overwhelming though I am not a star myself. It clearly reveals that people are anxiously waiting to hear my brother speak.”
Draft policies

The burly actor said Mr. Chiranjeevi was devoting considerable time and energy to the party’s draft policies and on the logistics of setting the new party rolling. Asked what the party had to offer to people, he quipped, “good governance” which meant different things to different sections. Mr. Nagababu declined to spell out his party’s stand on Telangana, the support he expected from the backward class community and on the date of the party’s launch, saying they were ready with policies. But, these would be announced by ‘anna’ (elder brother) as he alone was “big enough” to speak.

Rajani Kanth donates remuneration to technicians

Audio of Rajani Kanth starring Kathanayakudu is released in Chennai on 30th night at Lee Meeridan Hotel . P.Vasu is directing this film for Vyjayanthi Movies. K.Balachander attended the event as the chief guest. Rajani kanth, Jagapati Babu, A.R.Rehman, Bharati raja, VB Rajendra Prasad, Mani Sharma, P.Vasu, G.V.Prakash, Aravind Krishna (camera man), Aswini Dutt, Kandaswami, Seven Arts Vijay Kumar, Sunil, Ali, Vadivelu, Pyramid Saimira Srinivasan, K.Sai Baba, Tammudu Satyam also attended the event.

V.B.Rajendra Prasad launched the audio of Kathanayakudu while K.Balachander released the audio of Kuchelan (Tamil version).

Talking about the audio and the film, Rajani Kanth said, ‘Aswini Dutt is one producer who does not know the word compromise. You ask him for something, he will arrange it in seconds. For example, if you ask him for Sri Lanka, he would immediately try and will come back with an answer saying we will bring it as soon as the LTTE problem is cleared. This film is based on Malayalam film Katha Parayampol. I followed the advice of my guru Balachander to not miss any good subject that comes my way. As soon as P.Vasu made me watch the film, I decided I will do it. The film is wrapped up in 83 days for both Telugu and Tamil languages. It is because of P.Vasu, the film is wrapped up so quickly. He not only is the director of the film but supervised all departments including production’.

Talking about the music, Rajani Kanth added, ‘G.V.Prakash is talented. I would say Prakash is a combination of Ilayaraja and Rehman’.

Rajani Kanth further added that he is now taking good care of his health. In fact, he is following a strict diet by avoiding rice, sugar, salt, tablets, ghee etc. And then he announced that he would give out part of his remuneration for every film to the technicians who worked for the film. And this trend he is starting with Kathanayakudu.

Jagapati Babu started his talk with rhyming words. He said. ‘Telugu lo Jagapati, Tamil lo Pasupati. Iddharilonu Dalapati paina Sabhapati. Producer karodpathi. Prekashakulaku idhi oka andhamaina bahumathi’. He further added, ‘This is a wonderful and unique experience for me. The very first shot we acted together is a scene where he had to slap me. He really slapped me and I felt a kind of affectionate touch. This will remain as a sweet memory in my life. I sincerely thank Aswini Dutt who gave me Subhalagnam earlier and now Kathanayakudu’.

P.Vasu also announced that he is giving part of his remuneration to the technicians in the film. He went ahead and announced that Aswini Dutt, Vijay Kumar and Pushpa kandaswami will also donate give their share to the technicians. P.Vasu said that the film has a very strong story and is very inspiring.

Aswini Dutt said that his dream of producing a film with Rajani Kanth is fulfilled. Kathanayakudu is a film on friendship. Emphasizing this in the event, K.Balachander gave out the first CD to his friend Bharati Raja while Rajani Kanth gave the first CD to his friend Murali. Jagapati Babu called his friend Arjun and gave him a copy of the CD.

Makers are planning to release the film in the last week of July.

If the sources are to be believed, one unidentified (yet) individual is blackmailing a noted producer. This individual reportedly got his hands on the music tracks of the film and is now threatening the producer that he would post them on the internet if the demanded amount is not handed over to him. The film has a top star playing lead role in the film and the film with a variety title is close to be done with production. Producer is taking this issue very seriously. This is indeed a very serious issue. Earlier, Mahesh Babu starring Nani film songs were available for download even before the audio hit the markets. Same thing happened to Pawan Kalyan starring Jalsa. (Some say that Jalsa songs being available on net was a marketing strategy). However, in this present issue, two producers are taking it seriously - one the producer of the film and the other is a close relative of the hero. Some serious action on this kind of individuals would stop any such misadventures in future.
