Harbhajan Singh has been slapped with a show cause notice by the BCCI on Saturday, asking why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for allegedly slapping Sreesanth in Mohali.
Harbhajan has been asked to respond by Monday, BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty said.
"At this point of time, we have issued a show cause notice. Harbhajan is a contracted player of BCCI.
"BCCI itself has a code of conduct for players. And BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah has issued a show cause notice and he has to respond by Monday," Shetty said.
Harbhajan, leading the Mumbai Indians, allegedly slapped Sreesanth of the Kings XI Punjab following some exchange of words shortly after their match in Mohali on Friday.
Sreesanth was walking around the stadium in tears as his teammates including skipper Yuvraj Singh tried to console him.
"The Board's disciplinary committee will look into the issue and decide according to the rules of the BCCI," said Shah.
Shetty did not want to speculate on what punishment the BCCI could take against the off-spinner who is the stand-in captain of Mumbai Indians with Sachin Tendulkar keeping out due to a groin injury.
"I can't say anything about what action will be taken against him. And I don't think we need to speculate on that. We will follow a proper procedure," he said.
After getting Harbhajan's explanation, the disciplinary committee will consider what action needs to be taken in accordance with the rules, he said.

Is Kantri Half 'Munna' and Half 'Pokiri'?
With 'Jalsa' now out of the way, all attention is now directed at the next big film. The film is 'Kanthri' and Jr. NTR is the hero and Hansika Motwani is the heroine. Mehar Ramesh is the director and Ashwini Dutt is the producer.

Apart from this, people are now seen speculating about the story of Kanthri. Some report suggests that that the story of the film is a mix of Munna and Pokiri. While Pokiri is a big hit, Munna was a miserable fop. So we have to see how a mix of these two films will fare at the box office now.

With 10 roles for Kamal, this Oscar Films production has touched Rs.50 crore in budget.
Slated to be held during the last month itself, the song release function was postponed due to many reasons. Oscar Ravichandran has invited Jackie Chan to release the songs. Now it is firmed up that the function will be held on 25th of this month. Elaborately created invitations are being distributed.
A most attractive set is being erected at the Nehru Indoor stadium near Chennai. Many celebrities including Tamilnadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, film personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajini and Chiranjeevi are expected to attend the function.
Asha Saini's Bikini Dropped Down
The film 'Michael Madana Kamaraju' has three heroes and two leading ladies. Prabhu Deva, Srikanth and Sunil are the heroes and Charmy and Asha Saini are the heroines. While Charmy sizzled in her role as usual, it was the other heroine Asha Saini, who went a step ahead in the glamour department.
Asha Saini played a young and vivacious girl who is looking for love. She finds it in Sunil. The two first meet in Goa. This naturally gives the director an opportunity to go overboard and dress up Asha in the skimpiest of costumes.

Sun Stroke For Nayantara Knocked Her Down
Nayantara is the first celebrity victim of severe heat wave in the state.
Many assume that film stars enjoy cool air conditioned rooms and cars and keep away from sun. But while shooting they have to be open for severe heat. Nayantara is in city now for the shooting of a Tamil film. She went unconscious with the heat stroke and fallen down.
She was immediately taken to a private hospital in LB Nagar. The shooting was called off for today following the incident. It is indeed second time for Nayanatara to collapse. Earlier she was collapsed at Kochi Airport due to weakness resulted by dieting.
Puli' featuring Pavan Kalyan and directed by SJ Suryah is to start soon.
Vijay did not quite care for the 'Puli' story, so Suryah is making his film in Telugu with Pavan Kalyan in the lead. AR Rehman has already agreed to compose music for the film.
'Puli' is produced by S Ramesh Babu for Kanakaratna Movies. After completing the Telugu version, SJ Suryah will direct its Tamil version.

NTR, VV Vinayak's film launched
New movie of NTR is launched today at Film Nagar Cultural Centre (FNCC), Hyderabad. Gudiwada MLA Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) is the presenter, while it is produced by Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan and direction is by hotshot VV Vinayak. Nandamuri Balakrishna clapped the muhurt shot on NTR. SS Rajamouli switched on the camera. Ace director K. Raghavendra Rao rendered the first shot direction. Huge gathering fans of NTR and Balakrishna thronged the venue and shouted slogans in favor of them. A beeline of film industry elite graced the occasion and extended their best wishes to NTR. Speaking on this occasion, NTR said that it was new for him to get directed by VV Vinayak. "It was Vinay who gave me the first blockbuster Aadi. We both did Sambha also. I never feel like taking part in film shooting when working with Vinay. It will like a homely affair with friendly atmosphere everywhere. I am sure we are going to give a blockbuster." After the puja ceremony and film launch, the gathering dispersed and there was no press briefing, much to the surprise of the media.

How’s your career shaping up?
I have had a bad year. Both Yogi and Munna didn’t do too well, though they have got good reviews. Having said that, it cannot be ignored that Munna made six crores in Nizam. Yogi did okay too. So, looking forward for future projects!
Both Yogi and Eeshwar bank heavily on the mother sentiment… Did you want it that way?
It is just coincidence. Even Munna and Chatrapati too have mother sentiment. We didn’t try to put in anything. It just happened.
One usually associates Prabhas with mass, action films. Are you game to trying different subjects like Aparichitudu?
In my case, I have already tried experimentation in Chakram and Pournami. But they failed at the box-office. So, now I stick to good old mass films.
What do you look for before signing a film?
First, it has to be the storyline. Then, of course, it would be my role. If the role excites me, then I look out for the director and banner.
Action flicks apart, what kind of films do you personally like doing?
I love romantic subjects. Gitanjali is among my favourite films. Then come the action films. Sentiment films are surely not in the top slot.
Looking back, which is your favourite among your films?
Definitely Chatrapati. The audiences too have liked it.
There is intense competition in the industry these days. How do you deal with this?
By being smart and trying to make the right choices. That you have to put in lots of hard work goes without saying. It is equally important to try variations in characters and characterization.
Krishnam Raju is known for his historicals. Do you have any intentions of trying your hand at historicals or mythologies?
Yes, but after four years or so. I surely would love to try doing some good subjects. In fact, Bhakta Kannappa, which stars my uncle Krishnam Raju in the title role is among my favourite films. Incidentally, it was directed by Bapu garu, which is another highlight. I would love to do a similar role.

She is the Goan girl from Mumbai who is the top actress in Telugu today. Pokiri and Rakhi have put her on a totally different platform than her contemporaries. She talks of her friends within the industry and all about her latent design and singing skills. Ileana for you.
You are shooting with Pawan Kalyan for Jalsa. Finally, is that the title of the film, or is it still a tentative title?
I have the lead role in the film. It is with Pawan Kalyan, so it is coming out good. It is not called Jalsa or anything yet. It is still very tentative.
A li’l something about your role. We have heard there are other girls in the film apart from you…
There is Kamilini and there is Parvati Melton. I wouldn’t talk about my role. But it’s different. Much different from all the other roles I have done.
Tell us about the film…
I can’t talk about the story at all. I will keep mum for now. It will be really very different from what I am, totally different from the image I have on screen. It is a huge comedy flick and a complete entertainer.
When will you start shooting for Vijayabhaskar’s film?
We will be starting Vijayabhaskar’s film in November, in the first week most probably.
What other films have you signed in Telugu and in Bollywood?
So far I am doing a film with Pawan, which will be over soon. Then, I have a film with Tarun which will be starting soon. I have also signed a Bollywood film.
Can you elaborate on the Hindi film…
I am doing a film with Shiny Ahuja. Indrajit Lankesh will be directing it. That’s also a good flick or so I hope.
How would you describe your Bollywood debut film?
It is a very stylish kind of a film. They are using the best of the people to work on the film. My fingers are crossed. I am hoping for the best. Also, I will be seen opposite Shiney, so it should be a good experience.
Are you happy getting the break, after all the hype?
Of course. But Bollywood is not a big deal for me. Yes, the exposure is good, fame is all very good. However, it all depends on the script and the film. If I get better roles in Telugu, then I will do Telugu films. On the other hand, if I get nicer roles in Hindi, then I will do more Bollywood films. Or do both maybe.
What about all those rumours about you being cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan?
I am not doing a film with Salman or with Shah Rukh Khan. I have never even met them and that I hope answers it.
It is rumoured that you are the most highly paid actress in the industry today. How does it feel?
I have so many people coming up to me and asking the same question. It feels good. Maybe it puts you on a new pedestal. But what matters to me is the respect I get, from the people and my producers, irrespective of what I get.

Meera Jasmine's Malayalam film in Telugu
A successful Malayalam film 'Kasturimaan' in which Meera Jasmine played the lead role is being dubbed into Telugu as 'Nindu Manasulu', by Y Sreem on the banner of Power Movies.
The producer says, 'The performance of Meera Jasmine would remain an asset for the flick. Hero Jayasurya is the son of a zamindar who was in deep debt trap. However, he had a wish to study IAS and serve the country. Meera Jasmine helps him financially. Hero's family members believe that she was from a rich family. Jayasurya and Meera fall in love with each others and they face a serious and tough task in the process. How they overcome that problem is the subject. We are making efforts to release the film on May 1.'
Cochin Haneefa, Punith, Tilakan are in the lead roles.

Joel Silver Talks "Wonder Woman"
Producer Joel Silver tells IESB that he's got scribes Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland working on a new "Wonder Woman" script.
The pair penned a WW2-set "Wonder Woman" script that WB snatched up last year. That won't be used however, the pair instead came up with a whole new storyline and setting.
Originally shying away from an origin story, Silver has reconsidered and says they are really looking into a story involving Paradise Island and her background.
As for who will direct? Silver did say that Andy Wachowski had an idea on how to open the Wonder Woman film but wouldn't comment further.
IIFA 2008 minus ‘Taare Zameen Par’
Even if Aamir Khan never goes to an awards ceremony and don’t care to send the films from his production company for nominations, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ with it’ huge popularity and super hit status naturally became one among the nominations in the different award functions.

The actor plays characters including that of an American, a Chinese man, a CBI officer from Andhra Pradesh, an old lady, a leader from Afghanistan, George Bush and a Punjabi singer.
The audio of the movie would be released in Chennai on 25 April in a grand manner in which Karunanidhi, Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal and Vijay are expected to take part.

Sameera Reddy doesn't fancy songs any more
By Subhash K. Jha, Mumbai, March 8 : Sameera Reddy, who is often seen in sizzling numbers on screen, has no songs in her forthcoming thriller "Race" and says she doesn’t miss them.
"When you see the film, you’ll realise there was no space for singing in my character. I don’t think it’s important to have songs to make your presence felt. Amitabh Bachchan didn’t sing in ’Zanjeer’. Neither did Rani Mukerji in ’Black’," Sameera told .
Sameera has tapped her comic vein in "Race"."Anil Kapoor and I had done something very serious in our earlier film ’Musafir’. Here we just let ourselves go. I had never done comedy before."
But the film that finds Sameera immersed in a complete comic climate is Ashwini Dheer’s "123" in which the actress is paired with Paresh Rawal."So what if I’ve no song in ’Race’? I’ve an entire romantic duet with Paresh ji in ’123’. Our whole encounter is based on a comic misunderstanding. I learnt all there was to learn about comic timing from him.
"I’d have done the film just for the pleasure of learning so much about comedy from Paresh ji. But I also wanted to work with Ashwini Dheer. I’m a big fan of his sitcom ’Office Office’. Such straight-faced humour! That’s what he has brought into our film."
She debuted with "Maine Dil Tujhko Diya" in 2002 and after that she was seen mainly in glamorous roles, but now the actress is doing meatier roles. After her funny act in "123", she gets into the grim mode to play a Naxalite in Ananth Mahadevan’s "Red Alert".
"I play a girl called Laxmi who’s ferociously committed to her cause. No funny stuff here. No glamour. I guess I was chosen because I’m from Andhra and also because I’ve done serious cinema with Buddhadeb Dasgupta. After ’Kaal Purush’, I was compared with Smita Patil. And I think she has played a Naxalite."

Deepika Padukone in Double Role
Much like her debut role in Om Shanti Om, Deepika Padukone will be taking on not one but two characters in Chandni Chowk To China Town. Co-starring Akshay Kumar, the action film is being directed by Nikhil Advani and is produced by Warner Brothers and Rohan Sippy.
Nikhil confirmed the news saying simply, “That’s right. Deepika is doing a double role in my film.”

It will probably be for the first time in their lives that Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, former India captains and now rival skippers in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will walk out for the toss in a stadium plunged in darkness.
Minutes after a “short, sharp and sweet” opening ceremony on Friday to launch the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 tournament, the organisers are planning to switch off the floodlights at the Chinnaswamy Stadium before the first match between Dravid’s Bangalore Royal Challengers, the hosts, and Ganguly’s Kolkata Knight Riders, the visitors, which begins at 20.00 local time. “Then, the spotlights will come on, and focus on the two skippers as they walk out for the toss,” Charu Sharma, the Royal Challengers’ chief executive, told Cricinfo.
“We are pushing to have the toss under spotlights and are waiting for permission from local authorities, considering the number of people who will be there at the stadium when the lights will be switched off. This is something that has not really been tried before,” he said.
